Job Description

Dock Street Brewing Company is an award-winning, Philadelphia
based brewery and brewpub. Independently founded in 1985, Dock
Street was Philadelphia's First Craft Brewing Company, and one of
the first Craft Breweries in the country, making us a true pioneer of
American-made craft beer.

Dock Street is seeking a self-motivated, ambitious Assistant Manager
to lead by example and continue to cultivate an environment that
inspires creativity in a very strong team environment.
Embellish your skills by working on site, in a prestigious, award
winning Brewery and Brewery Restaurant.

Dock Street South opened in 2019, just a few months before the
pandemic. Through creative business strategies, teamwork and a
continuous dedication to quality and customer service, we are
fortunate enough to have emerged with an incredible Front of House,
Kitchen, and Brewery team, an amazing menu, both on draught and
coming out of the kitchen, and a joyous atmosphere.
The culture at Dock Street is built on a tradition of hard work, loyalty
and dedication to a quality product, executed at the highest level of
hospitality and customer service.

This role oversees Dock Street South primarily, but the Assistant
Manager will also oversee Dock Street Fishtown, our 1050 square
foot cocktail bar & event space. Management of this location includes
oversight of scheduling staff of bartenders, implementing new
procedures and seasonal beverage programs, and coordinating beer
and food deliveries from Dock Street South.

Responsibilities
  • Constant awareness of and having a pulse on all aspects of the restaurant, making sure things are running smoothly, the space is clean and orderly, and that customers and staff are happy. A great Manager will also empower staff at all levels to maintain the same and learn to do so independently. Use sharp business acumen and cost awareness to meet and maintain food and labor cost goals.
  • Strong leadership through example and hands-on management.
  • Hire, develop and train staff members, in tandem with the General Manager, that support the mission and culture of the Dock Street family.
  • Having a teamwork mindset, knowing the strengths and weaknesses of your team and being able to delegate tasks effectively.
  • Manage, mentor, and lead with respect and humility.
  • Foster a strong team that is empowered to take an active role in the success of the company.
  • Communicating event details to BOH (Kitchen Manager) +

FOH staff in advance and day-of.

  • Work with the executive chef and General manager to help create a menu that is in line with industry trends and company standards.
  • Play an active role in identifying and managing opportunities

    for company growth and success.

  • Helping with set up and break down events.

  • Welcoming and directing of guests.

  • Helping close out the night with the closing bartender, ensuring all cash handling and drops are correct.

    Skills/Requirements

    • 3+ years of restaurant management experience in a high volume, excellence-driven environment.
    • Strong work ethic and dedication to Dock Street’s operational standards as well as hospitality standards.
    • Knowledge of Inspection standards
    • Must be detail-oriented.
    • Experience with hiring and staff education.
    • Diplomacy when communicating with staff and upper management, ability to listen and learn from employees at all levels.
    • Proven ability to lead a team and communicate efficiently, both verbally and in written communication and record keeping.
    • Must be flexible and adaptable to change.
    • Help oversee special events, including private and non-private events, alongside the Event Coordinator and Event Assistant.
    • Food safety knowledge/ServSafe Manager Certificate and RAMP Certified Preferred.
    • Experience working with Toast POS Systems and Tripleseat a plus.
    • Extensive beer and cocktail knowledge are preferred.
    • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills.
    • Ability to work most evenings, weekends and holidays.
    • Current Driver’s license.
    • Outstanding References.
