Mississippi College invites applications for one or more faculty positions in the Department of Kinesiology beginning August 2026.
The department is actively seeking an individual with certification and experience teaching physical education in a school setting. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in the Department of Kinesiology, including but not limited to courses in Physical Education Pedagogy, First Aid, Fitness/Wellness and other courses within the kinesiology disciplinary umbrella. This individual will also coordinate the Physical Education K-12 certification program and will be responsible for supervising student teachers in that area as well.
Other responsibilities include academic advising, as well as service on departmental, school, and university committees. Community and church service is also an expectation of this position. The tenure track position carries the additional responsibility of scholarly activity.
Minimum requirements:
The department will consider individuals with a range of qualifications for one of three levels of rank.
All three levels: five years of experience teaching physical education in a school setting along with a current license in the physical education subject area.
Clinical Instructor (non-tenure track): Master's degree from an accredited university in Physical Education, Education, Kinesiology, Human Performance or related field. First Aid Instructor certification.
Clinical Assistant Professor (non-tenure track): Doctoral degree from an accredited university in Physical Education, Education, Kinesiology, Human Performance or related field. First Aid Instructor certification. The department will consider an ABD applicant for this position if completion is anticipated prior to June 2027.
Assistant Professor (tenure track): Doctoral degree from an accredited university in Physical Education, Education, Kinesiology, Human Performance or related field. First Aid Instructor certification. The department will consider an ABD applicant for this position if completion is anticipated prior to June 2027.
