Dental Assistant Instructor (Part Time)

Charter College, an established and growing career college with locations in Washington, New Mexico, Alaska, and Southern California, is now seeking talented, enthusiastic, and experienced part-time Dental Assistant instructors to teach in a blended course environment for our Oxnard, CA campus during the day.

Our 5-week courses average 10 hours a week per class, which includes class and online time with the students. Class times are 9:00 AM - 3:45 PM, 2 times a week; Monday through Thursday classes only.

The blended course environment enables instructors to offer students a greater range of learning avenues. It blends face-to-face interaction, such as in-class discussions, active group work, live lectures, and lab work, with web-based technologies such as discussion boards, open forums, and utilizing a learning management system. This allows us to offer more active learning and flexible scheduling for the students, while maintaining the value of a face-to-face learning environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Prepare for each course to be taught a syllabus consistent with course descriptions.
  • Impress upon our students the importance of exhibiting appropriate conduct in the workplace.
  • Acquire feedback to determine whether students understand each segment of the course.
  • Maintain academic standards.
  • Evaluate students' progress often and share those evaluations with them promptly.
  • Be available to students with concerns.
  • Review and be guided by student evaluations of instruction.
  • Play an intricate role in student retention efforts.
  • Serve on faculty committees.
  • Attend and participate in official college functions.
  • Keep on file official transcripts of your formal studies.
  • Enroll in such courses of study and participate in such programs of professional growth.


JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Current Certification in Dental Assisting AND
  • Registered Dental Assistant.
  • Two (2) years of experience in the field.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Experience in a blended teaching environment is preferred but not required.


COMPENSATION:

  • Part Time, Non-Exempt.
  • Hourly.
  • $25.00.
  • We are seeking instructors who can accommodate the day shift.

SCHEDULE:

  • 4-hour shift.
  • Day shift.
  • 9:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. (Monday and Wednesday) and 9:00 a.m. - 3:45 p.m. (Tuesday and Thursday)


EXPERIENCE:

  • Dental assisting: 2 years (Required).


LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

  • Registered Dental Assistant (Required).
