The main responsibility of this position is to provide comprehensive support for the IBM Maximo Application Suite on-premises. This encompasses the Maximo Application Suite (MAS), "Manage", OpenShift cluster, Oracle Database, Business Intelligence Report Tool (BIRT), Maximo Integration Framework (MIF), and all associated integrations utilizing Snap Logic. The role entails ensuring the performance, reliability, and security of the application and database through proactive monitoring, tuning, backups, disaster recovery planning, and managing access for users and external processes. The Solution Architect is also responsible for supporting upgrades, patch management, and migrations while adhering to cybersecurity and regulatory standards to maintain the application and database free from vulnerabilities. Furthermore, the Solution Architect works collaboratively with resources across the refinery to manage Maximo, the requirements of the Maximo Integration Framework (MIF), workflows, provide actionable insights, and assist with database-related tasks for audits, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives aimed at aligning Maximo operations with business requirements. Additionally, this position entails duties as a DBA for all databases. The ideal candidate should be motivated and enthusiastic about continually acquiring new technologies and understanding business processes.

Requirements

  • Administration, Development, Support, and User Training for the Maximo Application Suite.
  • Serve as the lead Maximo Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the organization.
  • Oversee, maintain, and enhance the performance of Maximo Asset Management system databases to ensure optimal performance, availability, and reliability of both the database and application servers.
  • Expertise in Maximo's table structure and metadata, along with the development of automation and lower environment refresh scripts for Maximo.
  • Provide support for the Maximo Integration Framework (MIF), managing database connections and ensuring data exchange integrity.
  • Develop, implement, maintain, and monitor integrations utilizing Snap Logic Integration software.
  • Function as the Oracle Database Administrator for versions 12c and 19c.
  • Administer Oracle Database Appliance models 6, 8, and 9, version 19 or later.
  • Lead backup, recovery, and disaster recovery efforts for Oracle databases using RMAN.
  • Act as the Microsoft SQL Database Administrator for versions 2012 to 2022.
  • Conduct regular database backups, restorations, and planning/testing for disaster recovery.
  • Manage database configuration and security settings to ensure compliance with IT and cybersecurity policies.
  • Perform database health assessments, troubleshoot issues, analyze alert logs, and implement corrective measures to prevent downtime.
  • Exhibit strong skills and experience in technology troubleshooting.
  • Manage patch updates and upgrades of the Maximo asset management system and its database servers, ensuring alignment with application enhancements.
  • Evaluate database performance metrics to identify and address performance issues.
  • Monitor and enhance Maximo database performance, ensuring efficient data flow and reduced latency through the optimization of database queries, indexes, and schema designs to improve overall system efficiency and response times.
  • Create and optimize Maximo reports utilizing the Maximo Business Intelligence Reporting Tool (BIRT).
  • Assist with data migration and conversion efforts during Maximo upgrades or integration initiatives.
  • Conduct data mapping and conversion for Maximo enhancements and integrations using Snap Logic.
  • Diagnose and resolve database-related challenges in integrated systems to guarantee smooth functionality across connected applications.
  • Carry out regular security audits and collaborate with cybersecurity teams to address potential vulnerabilities.
  • Offer database expertise during Maximo upgrades, patching, and troubleshooting to minimize system downtime and disruptions.
  • Engage in testing and validating new configurations, modules, or enhancements in Maximo to ensure database compatibility.
  • Provide both functional and technical support for Maximo related to data processes and improvements for MAS 8.11 and higher.
  • Establish and manage database monitoring tools to proactively identify and resolve issues.
  • Produce performance and usage reports to inform decision-making and long-term resource planning.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of database and application architecture, configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Create and update knowledge base articles to assist with troubleshooting and ongoing support tasks.
  • Train and mentor team members in best practices for Maximo database management.
  • Generate complex data extracts to address the organization's needs.
  • Collaborate closely with Maximo business owners, IT support, and operations teams to ensure database support aligns with business goals.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for the Maximo database, offering guidance and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to foster ongoing improvements for Maximo and its integrated systems.
  • Stay informed about the latest developments in database technology, trends, and best practices to improve Maximo database operations.
  • Identify opportunities for automating repetitive database processes to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Contribute to innovative solutions that improve the performance and scalability of Maximo systems.
  • Provide support for various refinery applications and their associated databases.

 

Experience and Skills

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4-7 years of relevant experience in addition to education or equivalent.
  • At least 5-7 years of hands-on experience with IBM Maximo Asset Management software and database. This includes Maximo application and database configuration, customization, upgrades, patches and integrations hosted on-premises. IBM Certified Professional preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience with Maximo Application Suite version 8, including Oil & Gas add-on preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience working as an Oracle Database Administrator.
  • Strong written and communication skills.
  • Proven experience:
    • Integrating Maximo with other applications.
    • With Red Hat Enterprise and Core Linux environments and Openshift.
    • With programming in python, jython and Linux shell script
    • With HTML, XML and Javascript
    • Creating and troubleshooting Oracle and SQL queries
    • Authoring reports with BIRT.
    • Building a knowledge base for Maximo support.
    • Explaining advanced technical concepts to non-technical parties.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Must be able to obtain TWIC card upon hire
