Job Description

Align Social Impact is seeking a creative and experienced PR and Communications Consultant to join the New York team's growing social impact practice. Align is a full-service impact agency at the nexus of storytelling, research, culture, and systems change, and we specialize in serving brand, nonprofit, talent, and foundation clients around the world to accelerate their impact in ways that can be felt and measured. The social impact PR and Communications Consultant will play an integral role in driving public relations efforts and results for Align and its social impact clients in service a more just, vibrant, and sustainable world where people, planet, and culture thrive.

  • A proven, proactive, and collaborative communications person who is dynamic, creative, and boundary-breaking.
  • An experienced and veteran PR pro with a strong network and Rolodex across a range of sectors including lifestyle, philanthropy, tech, health, and/ or entertainment.
  • Committed to building a more just, equitable, and vibrant world with a keen understanding of the evolving public relations, communications, and social impact landscape.
  • Specialized in conceptualizing or surfacing authentic and compelling stories that resonate with audiences, communicating with clarity and precision, and astute at measuring and achieving outcomes for clients.
  • A dedicated client-facing professional with expertise in managing cross-sector clients, understanding and developing goals and objectives, and building long-term relationships.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Leverage PR relationships across broadcast, online, podcast, and print to confirm interest and placements for timely, newsworthy stories, profiles or launches.
  • Develop and implement PR strategies aligned with client goals.
  • Draft press releases, media materials, speeches, and thought leadership assets.
  • Cultivate relationships with journalists and influencers in relevant sectors.
  • Support content calendars and cross-channel communications.
  • Monitor media coverage and compile performance reports.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to spotlight impactful work.
  • Assist with event-related media planning and post-event communications.


Required Skills & Experience:

  • 8+ years in PR, communications, or related experience — past agency experience required.
  • Outstanding writing and editing skills with an eye for narrative and voice.
  • Deep familiarity with media tracking tools and PR software.
  • Experience working with mission-driven organizations or social impact initiatives required.
  • Ability to work independently and manage shifting priorities and client deadlines.
  • Comfortable working EST hours.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Understanding of the global social impact and philanthropic landscape, and some experience working on or with advocacy, sustainability, or issue area campaigns.
  • Familiarity, relationships, and experience working with NGOs, civil society, and/or policy- or advocacy-related organizations.

More Details:

  • Contract type: (1099) Independent Contractor.
  • 12-week contract.
  • Up to 20 hours per week (may be less depending on business or client needs each week).
  • Start Date: Aug 11, 2025.
  • Hybrid role (remote & in-office).
