1st Choice Healthcare Staffing Solutions is currently seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and experienced School Nurse to provide healthcare services to students within DC Public Schools. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing students' health needs, administering first aid, providing emergency care, and promoting overall health and wellness within the school environment.

As part of our staffing team, the School Nurse will work closely with students, school staff, and parents to ensure a safe, healthy, and supportive environment for all students. Key Responsibilities:

• Provide first aid and emergency care to students as needed.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with established protocols.
• Manage students with chronic health conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, allergies) and provide care plans to ensure student health and safety.
• Monitor and assess student health trends and report findings to school administration and parents as necessary.
• Educate students and staff on health-related topics, including hygiene, nutrition, and safety.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal health regulations, including maintaining accurate health records and documentation.
• Act as a liaison between students, parents, and healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care.
• Coordinate health screenings (vision, hearing, etc.) and follow up with students who require additional care or referrals.
• Ensure all students have updated immunization records and that those records are maintained in accordance with DC Public Schools policies.
• Respond to health-related emergencies and coordinate with emergency medical services when necessary.
• Provide support and health counseling to students with mental health needs, as well as refer students to appropriate resources when needed.
• Assist with planning and executing health education programs for students and staff.

Qualifications:

• Licensure: Must be a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the District of Columbia. Valid CPR and First Aid certification required.
• Experience: Previous experience working as a school nurse or in a pediatric/childcare setting preferred. Experience working with children with chronic health conditions is a plus.
• Skills: Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations in the school setting. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with students, parents, and school staff.
• Attributes: Compassionate, patient, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Additional Requirements: Ability to pass a background check and provide proof of required immunizations.
