**Job title:** **Senior Bookkeeper**

**Type of employment:** **Part-time (Remote)**

**Budget:** $7 - $9/hour

**Shift Schedule:** 10:00 AM 2:00 PM EST

The Senior Bookkeeper will be responsible for overseeing end-to-end bookkeeping functions with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with Canadian standards. This role involves managing monthly reconciliations, preparing GST/HST tax returns, and ensuring financial records are up to date. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly skilled in QuickBooks Online and Wave, and capable of working independently while maintaining professional communication with clients.

**Objectives of this role:**

* Ensure accurate and timely monthly bookkeeping, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
* Manage Canadian-specific bookkeeping requirements, including GST/HST returns and payroll filings.
* Support smooth financial operations by working independently and efficiently while maintaining high attention to detail.

**Responsibilities:**

* Post receipts from AutoEntry into QuickBooks Online.
* Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations.
* Complete general ledger reconciliations and manage the month-end close process.
* Prepare and reconcile quarterly GST/HST returns.
* Reconcile payroll and ensure compliance with Canadian payroll tax requirements.
* Communicate professionally with clients regarding bookkeeping matters.
* Deliver an accurate and reconciled trial balance on a monthly basis for final review by practice owner.
* Weekly meetings/check-ins with practice owner

**Required skills and qualifications:**

* Proven experience as a senior bookkeeper in Canada.
* Strong expertise in QuickBooks Online and Wave (non-negotiable).
* In-depth knowledge of Canadian sales tax filings (GST/HST) and payroll processes.
* Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills.
* Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
* Reliable internet connection and ability to work in a cloud-based environment.
* Must have at least 3-5 years experience working as a senior level bookkeeper

**Preferred skills and qualifications:**

* Experience in bookkeeping for multiple clients across industries.
* Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines.
* Familiarity with advanced bookkeeping processes and reporting.
* Hands-on experience with AutoEntry receipt management software is an asset.
