Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Los Angeles, California. This role is integral to managing the financial operations of our non-profit organization, ensuring compliance with funding requirements, and delivering accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fund-based accounting and a commitment to supporting the mission of non-profit organizations. Responsibilities: - Oversee all aspects of accounting, including internal reporting, analysis, audits, and major reconciliations. - Prepare accurate financial and statistical reports for contracts funded by government agencies and private foundations. - Perform month-end closing tasks such as bank reconciliations and fund reconciliations to cost reports. - Create and review journal entries to ensure accurate financial records. - Maintain fixed asset records and generate depreciation reports. - Prepare various annual and business tax returns to ensure compliance with regulations. - Collaborate with team members to develop program and contract budgets that align with organizational goals. - Monitor and manage the progress of special accounting assignments and projects. - Cross-train with other accounting staff to maintain continuity in fiscal operations. - Participate in departmental meetings and assist with fiscal monitoring of subcontractors and collaborators. Requirements - Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit environment. - Proficiency in fund-based accounting software and applications. - Strong knowledge of general ledger, journal entries, and account reconciliations. - Experience with month-end and year-end closing processes. - Skilled in using Microsoft Excel and other financial tools such as NetSuite, Oracle, or SAP. - Ability to prepare financial reports and tax returns with accuracy and attention to detail. - Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. - Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with various departments and stakeholders.
