Job Description

Step into a pivotal role as a Sterile Processing Tech in Rochester, New York, where precision, reliability, and patient safety converge to deliver life-saving outcomes every day. In this essential specialty, your meticulous decontamination, sterilization, and instrumentation preparation ensure that every tool entering the operating room supports flawless procedures and optimal patient care. Your impact goes beyond the sterile corridor: you enable clinicians to perform with confidence, shorten procedures, and uphold the highest standards of asepsis across complex surgical environments. As you contribute to a critical chain of care, you’ll also discover the beauty of New York’s upstate landscape—seasonal splendor, the Finger Lakes region’s scenic beauty, vibrant fall colors, waterways, and abundant outdoor recreation—offering inviting escapes after meaningful shifts.

Rochester, NY presents a compelling backdrop for your travel assignment. It’s part of a robust healthcare ecosystem with leading hospitals, academic medical centers, and rich professional networks that support your growth and collaboration. The opportunity extends beyond your assigned location: you may have the chance to work in various locations across the U.S., broadening your clinical exposure, expanding your professional footprint, and enriching your understanding of different hospital systems, infection control protocols, and instrument processing challenges unique to each setting. This variety not only strengthens your resume but also enhances your adaptability, communication, and problem-solving skills in dynamic teams.

Role specifics and benefits:
- Core responsibilities: You will lead the decontamination, disassembly, cleaning, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, and sterile storage of instruments and equipment. You’ll manage tray setup, instrument counting, and validation of sterilization cycles, ensuring compliance with AAMI/ANSI standards, OSHA regulations, and hospital policies. You’ll document instrument use, maintain accurate traceability, perform routine equipment maintenance, and collaborate closely with surgical services and OR teams to anticipate instrument needs, minimize instrument turnaround times, and uphold sterile integrity throughout the patient care cycle.
- Professional growth: This assignment is designed to advance your specialty expertise, with access to certification support (CRST/CSPDT pathways as applicable), cross-training in instrument processing technologies, and opportunities to take on lead or educator roles within the sterile processing department as you gain experience. Your contributions will be recognized through performance-based extensions and continued engagement in quality improvement initiatives.
- Competitive benefits: You’ll be eligible for a competitive compensation package, including a sign-on bonus, housing assistance options, and potential contract extensions to suit department needs and your career plans. The weekly pay range is $946-$969, providing consistent cash flow throughout the assignment, with final compensation confirmed during the hiring process. Please note that hours are not guaranteed; schedules are set to meet facility demand and patient care requirements.
- Comprehensive support: You won’t travel alone. A dedicated support team is available 24/7 to assist you on the road—from onboarding and orientation to troubleshooting and shift coordination. You’ll have access to a travel concierge, housing accommodations, and ongoing clinical and logistical support to ensure smooth transitions between sites.

Company values:
Our organization is built on empowering staff, investing in career advancement, and fostering a supportive, collaborative work culture. We champion professional development, mentorship, and access to continuing education that enables sterile processing professionals to grow from frontline technicians into trusted specialists. You’ll join a team that prioritizes safety, open communication, recognition of excellence, and a culture where every contribution is valued and aligned with patient-centered outcomes.

Call to action:
If you’re ready to elevate your sterile processing career while exploring the diverse environments of Rochester and across the United States, apply now. This is your chance to join a company that prioritizes your professional growth, recognizes your expertise, and supports you every step of the way as you impact patient care on the front lines of surgery. Begin your journey on 01/19/2026 with a short-term travel assignment designed to challenge, reward, and expand your horizons in this essential specialty.

Please note: The hours and pay rates listed are estimates and may vary. Final compensation packages and guaranteed hours will be confirmed during the hiring process.
