Job summary:
The Truss Designer will design open web floor/roof trusses using hardware and loose framing materials as needed for the accurate design projects. The position requires interaction with vendors, customers, and field staff. The Truss Designer reports to the Design Manager.
Responsibilities
•Prepare floor/roof layouts per architectural and structural plans and specifications
•Prepare pricing/estimating data upon request without full design
•Discuss changes and corrections/repairs with engineers, architects, and construction team during shop drawing phase
•Complete and submit engineered wood product and hanger lists for buyout
•Review layouts and shipping files for accuracy
•Troubleshoot and help resolve plan discrepancies or inefficiencies
•Customer service support through the construction phase
Requirements
• Associate’s (AA) degree from two-year college or technical school and two years’ related experience designing trusses
• Proficient with Microsoft Office products, Auto CAD, and other design related programs.
• Previous experience with MiTek preferred
• Working knowledge of framing, blueprints, specifications, and other construction documents
Skills
• Strong math skills
• Ability to communicate with others including customers, builders, co-workers, and management.
• Ability to sit at a desk for a prolonged period.
• Professionally communicate and interact with customers, colleagues, and co-workers.
Physical Requirements:
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
