Job Title: Underwriting Support Specialist (Entry-Level)
Location: Erie, PA
Duration: Temporary full-time position (approx. 3.5 months)

Position Overview:
Kaeppel Consulting is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated  Underwriting Support Specialist to join our client’s insurance operations team. This entry-level position plays a key role in supporting underwriting processes by performing clerical tasks, processing documentation, and serving as a liaison between agents, policyholders, and internal teams. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain foundational experience in the insurance and underwriting field.  This position is an on-site opportunity based in Erie, PA.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide administrative support to the underwriting team by answering phone calls, updating internal systems, retrieving and organizing documents, and managing mail correspondence.
  • Set up and monitor policies prior to renewal and track underwriting tasks through diary systems and reports.
  • Conduct initial review of appraisals, underwriting reports, claims, endorsements, and quotes to ensure all required information is present, following established review guidelines.
  • Document relevant details in underwriting systems with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Communicate with insurance agents to obtain missing or incomplete information on applications, renewals, and endorsement requests under the direction of the underwriter.
  • Order and track the receipt of third-party underwriting reports and flag any delays or issues.
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Basic understanding of clerical functions and data entry.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently under supervision and meet deadlines consistently.
  • Previous experience in an office or administrative environment (insurance experience is a plus, but not required).
