About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Food Equipment Repair Technician to support our growing grocery chain. This position is critical to maintaining the operational efficiency and safety of our food preparation and refrigeration equipment across multiple store locations.

As a Food Equipment Repair Technician, you will diagnose and repair a variety of commercial kitchen and food service equipment, perform preventative maintenance, and ensure all systems are functioning in compliance with health and safety regulations. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, customer-service oriented, and experienced in commercial repair and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair commercial food equipment including ovens, slicers, mixers, hot/cold holding units, and refrigeration systems.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance and safety inspections to reduce downtime.
• Maintain accurate service logs and records for each site visit.
• Communicate effectively with management and the central maintenance team regarding service status and timelines.
• Order necessary parts and manage inventory of tools and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal codes related to safety, health, and electrical standards.
• Participate in rotating on-call shifts for emergency repairs outside normal business hours.

Qualifications

Required:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in commercial equipment repair.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Proficient in mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration systems.
• Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and repair skills.
• Ability to work independently across multiple store locations.

Preferred:

• EPA Section 608 Refrigerant Handling Certification.
• Manufacturer training/certifications (e.g., Hobart, True, Turbo Air, Blodgett).
• Prior experience working in grocery, supermarket, or foodservice environments.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
• Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
• Comfortable working in hot kitchens, cold storage areas, and outdoor environments.
