Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Test Analyst to join a large-scale public sector project in Lansing, MI . This role supports a critical Accounts Receivable and Collections initiative, requiring a blend of manual testing expertise and robust test automation skills.

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in Quality Assurance, capable of designing test strategies, executing complex test cases, and ensuring compliance with ADA standards. You will work within an Agile environment, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality software delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Test Strategy & Execution: Design and execute manual and automated test cases, including Positive, Negative, and Boundary testing. Develop comprehensive test plans, strategies, and testing metrics.
• Automation: Write clean, maintainable, and object-oriented Java code for test automation. Build test suites for various environments (DEV, UAT, QAT, PRE-PROD).
• API & Database Testing: Perform API testing using tools like Postman or REST Client. Write and execute SQL/P-SQL queries (SELECTs, JOINs) for data validation against Oracle or SQL Server databases.
• Accessibility Testing: Conduct ADA Compliance testing using industry-standard tools such as AccVerify and JAWS .
• Defect Management: Identify, document, and track bugs clearly using Azure DevOps (ADO) .
• Collaboration: Participate actively in Agile/Scrum ceremonies. Collaborate with Business Analysts and Developers to analyze user stories and acceptance criteria.
• Performance Testing: Assist with performance and load testing initiatives.

Required Qualifications

Experience Level: Senior (5+ Years Required)

Testing & Methodology:

• Deep understanding of software testing methodologies (QA, UAT, System Integration, Regression, and Post-Deployment Validation).
• Experience analyzing requirements and User Stories in Azure DevOps .
• Proven ability to generate and acquire necessary test data.

Automation & Technical Skills:

• Java: Proven experience writing object-oriented Java code for test automation.
• Frameworks: Demonstrable experience automating web applications using Playwright, Selenium, or Cypress .
• BDD: Writing clear Gherkin scenarios (Given/When/Then) and implementing Step Definitions in Java.
• Version Control: Proficiency with Git (merging, pull requests).
• Security: Understanding of the Secure Application Development Lifecycle (SADLC).

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)

• Experience with the Azure DevOps Testing Module .
• Mobile Application testing experience (iOS and Android).
• Experience specifically with Playwright for Java or the TestNG framework.
• Familiarity with Eclipse as a primary IDE.
• Background in performance testing tools (JMeter, LoadRunner).
